Notable Mentions
- Wahlil had conduct of a residential tenancy eviction trial which developed into a complex and contentious matter turning on the interpretation of particular points of law. Instructed Counsel’s initial assessment was not favourable to the client and through perseverance Wahlil formulated a persuasive contention based on the Court of Appeal authority (Superstrike Ltd v Rodrigues [2013] EWCA Civ 669). Ultimately this contention was instructive to the Judge’s decision in favour of Wahlil’s client. Following the trial, Counsel recognised the significant implications of the contention devised by Wahlil and sought a transcript of the judgment to be used as persuasive authority in future cases.
- A client instructed Wahlil to defend a claim for adverse possession on the grounds that the client believed himself to have a claim superseding the original claim. By researching the underlying law and drafting representations, Wahlil was successful in formulating a legal argument defeating the original claim.
